Using Fruit Infused Water to make Gelatin Milkshakes, Flans and Other Frozen Delights

There is a Filipino cuisine called “gulaman” wherein they dehydrate the Agarose seaweed to make various gelatin recipes and flan. I liked the idea and so I thought I’d make a fruit infused water recipe with gulaman gelatin bars and the results were amazing! You can also make milkshake recipes from this edible seaweed. But combining the gulaman with fruit infused water recipes is the ultimate tastebuds psychedelic ecstasy. Here’s how to prepare it.

What you need:

Fruit InfusedWater
  • Any fruit/herb combination of your choice
  • 1-2 liters water pitcher
  • Purified water
Gulaman
  • Any fruit/herb combination of your choice
  • 1-2 liters water pitcher
  • Purified water

What to do:

  • Prepare the fruit infused water recipe first and let it infuse in room temperature or in the fridge for the recommended amount of time necessary. Make 2 or more pitchers of it to ensure that you’ll have enough for multiple recipes (e.g. milkshakes, flans, fruit salads and more).
  • Cook the gulaman in the casserole together with the fruit infused water, sugar (use sparingly as the infused water might already be sweet enough) and milk.
  • Set temperature to 60 – 80 degrees Celsius and thoroughly mix it for 10 – 15 minutes.
  • Pour the mix now in several plastic containers and refrigerate.
  • Once frozen you may now use the gulaman gelatin recipe to your regular fruit infused water drink as an additional toppings or some sort. Or cut it into cubes and use it to make milkshakes, make flans, fruit salads and other recipes that you can think of.
